Season 3: Episode 3 - What we Want
We have learned a lot, thought a lot about space, lifestyle and and written lots of things we like and dislike, and now it is time to condense that nebulous miasma of ideas, wants and needs into a set of design constraints we can work to. But first an interesting tangent exercise. When we were looking to buy a conventional house (and a huge chuck of debt) we went through a similar process - what are the criteria for a house that suits our values and lifestyle? How much of wha

Low Waste: Up-cycled Jars
One of the values that influence how we live our lives is to be gentle on the planet. One way we do this is to reduce the amount of waste we produce and consume. One thing I have struggled with is finding yummy ways to use up the almond pulp that’s left at the end. Almond pulp itself doesn’t have a lot of flavour. A few months back I was experimenting with adding black beans to brownies as a way to increase nutrition in our mid morning snack - and the recipe developed fro

Season 3: Episode 1 - We Have a lot of Stuff
Step one is buying the trailer... right? Not quite. If we want to live comfortably in a Tiny House on Wheels, then we need to cultivate a lifestyle that will comfortably fit inside a Tiny House on Wheels. Here are some things I think about to move in that direction. Declutter or De-own? Imagine a home with clear surfaces, calm and comfortable spaces, and a few beautiful items to make you smile. This kind of place is my sanctuary and how I’d like my home to be. Often our home
