Blog 16b: Byron Bay Bluesfest, Day 2
Sunshine! (Mostly). Just after lunch we moseyed on over to the festival grounds to pick up where we left off – enjoying some excellent tunes. We started off checking out the much hyped Citizen Cope. I don’t know if it was the early set time, the sound not quite being dialed in or my unfamiliarity with his music, but his stuff didn’t really engage me. A theme for day two was that things were a bit hit and miss. I guess you can’t expect every artist to be brain meltingly awesom

Blog 16a: Byron Bay Bluesfest, Day 1
Hey there forager followers. This week we are doing something a little different with the blog while we are at Bluesfest. We will be posting daily with a wrap up of the musical adventures of the previous day. First, a little preamble to fill in the blanks from Sunday to Wednesday. A long way huh? With Adam still recovering from the all-coughing, all-congested, all-low-on-energy fun times of the common cold, we didn’t get to do either of the wedding registry activities we were

Blog 15: New South Wales - Tuncurry to Byron Bay
This weeks blog is bought to you by phlegm, cough and tissue. Being sick on holiday SUCKS! A short one this week: After spending a couple of days of high quality beach and sunshine time in Tuncurry, we needed to keep heading north to get to Byron Bay (well, Tyagarah really) for Bluesfest which starts on Thursday this week - pretty excited! We stopped off for lunch in Port Macquarie. Painted dimension stone (yes, that is the correct engineering term) on the sea wall adjacent t

Beach and sunshine again - hooray! It is strange, but after having so many rapid commitments of places to be at particular times, this week has felt like we are really 'back to it,' on the road with less time pressure and more freedom to make-it-up-as-we-go-along. We have done some great stuff over the past couple of weeks of scheduled things, but it really nice to have more freedom again. This week, on Foraging for Vegan Treats: After our last post we got to go and have a ve
Bonus Blog: 10 000 km on the road with Gary the Land Rover
Lots of people (cough, Toyota drivers, cough) pay out on Land Rovers as 'unreliable,' 'poorly built' and 'incapable.' The truth is that there is a bit of the old Ford vs Holden, Red vs Blue, Brand A vs Brand B rivalry going on, and, like any other vehicle (Except for Jeeps. They really suck at remote travel), you look after it, do the appropriate preventative and necessary maintenance and you are likely to have no issues on the road, off the road (provided you don't take stup

Blog 13: New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory - Sydney to Canberra
Pro tip: After sleeping only a couple of hours on a red eye flight, when diligently giving your Land Rover the once over, ensure to firmly and completely tighten the expansion tank cap after checking the coolant level. We have been a bit temporally discombobulated over the last fortnight, so this is another late one, but regular Sunday blog programming should resume next week. Also, Canberra is pretty rad. Read on. After being reunited with Gary, we headed west into the Blue

Blog 12: New South Wales - Pambula Beach to Sydney
As you will read below, this has been a pretty hectic week/weekend, thus the late post. Pretend it is Sunday ;). What is important in life? How much do the objects, things, products and consumables we acquire liberate or imprison us? Most people have dabbled in the concept of minimalism, or decluttering your life/environment/home/life. We are lucky enough to live in a society where we can, in fact, work hard and save for three and half years, pay for a wedding, Land Rover set
